“Champions of Industry”, hosted by Jimmy Johnson, set to develop new content on passenger rail travel

Champions of Industry, hosted by Jimmy Johnson, will soon air a brand new segment with a focus on passenger rail travel. While most Americans typically travel by personal vehicle or airplane, passenger rail travel is in the midst of what many are calling a revival. Johnson will use this segment to take a look at the national Amtrak service as well as regional based passenger rail travel.

Most of the country’s railroad tracks are shared between passenger services and commercial lines. While the railroad industry used to play a vital role as a part of the passenger transportation network and for commercial transport, it is a shadow of its former self. Yet high airfare prices and recent improvements in rail technology have generated a spike in passenger rail travel interest. Johnson will explore the issue and take a look at how American passenger rail travel compares to that of other nations, especially Europe.

The Champions of Industry program is an award winning short form segment that appears on Public Television. The show’s segments are created with the help of a variety of experts from across the world. The result is high quality content that delves into the depths of diverse subject matter. PBS is in no way associated with the content of The Champions of Industry. The show’s content is individually distributed to Public Television stations through a satellite uplink.
